The Ascension of Jesus. On the day of the ascent, the disciples go beyond the cloud of false self-perception and the world, called Maya among Hindus, and realize that the mystery of Christ is beyond anything their human mind could understand.

The mystery of God is hidden in a cloud that the mind cannot pierce and that the five senses cannot reach. The faculties of the mind: will, memory and intellect have their place in our daily lives and must be used accordingly. However, when it comes to the experience of the Divine, we must be willing to go beyond the limits of the human spirit and to plunge with absolute faith, guided by grace, into "the cloud of unknowing" where the mystery of God can be experienced.

Jesus often spoke in parables. These parables are simple stories that hold within them many layers of Divine Truth. Fr Kumeran will help us unpack some of these stories interpreting them from a mystical perspective. He will also use his own experience of the wisdom of Hinduism to expand our understanding of these teachings of Jesus.

In each of us is an Immovable space of Truth and Light. It is the highest place of God Awareness within us. Jesus and all the great Messengers of Light have come to help us make this inward journey up that Mountain where we will experience our Highest Truth. How do we ascend this Inner Mountain in the midst for the craziness of this world? How do we realise our Highest self and grow in our awareness of the God of the Mountain?

Father Kumeran who lives as a contemplative at a Holy Mountain (Arunachala) in the South of India will help us explore and experience this Inner Mountain from Hindu and Christian Mystical perspectives.

Fr Kumeran, who was brought up in a home where the Hindu deities were worshiped, has a deep appreciation for the mystical language of Hindu images. He has a profound insight into the symbolism behind the deities of Hinduism and integrates them in his own spiritual practices.

He will teach on the symbolic meaning behind the deities of Hinduism, the stories behind them, and their significance on the path of spirituality. Although the Hindu deities are found in an Indian context when their deeper significance is unlocked they reveal universal principles which can be appreciated in East or West.

From the elephant God Ganesha, to the dancing God Nataraja, to the dynamic images of the Mother Goddess Shakti – each hold hidden secrets about our spiritual evolution, the path to Self-realisation, and basic values to apply to our everyday lives, which have the power to transform us and how we experience the world.
